This is a template for informational purposes. Consult with a qualified attorney for legal advice specific to your situation before production adoption.
1. Who these terms apply to
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of the EdutestPro-Ni teaching and assessment platform by authorised school users, including administrators, teachers, students, and parents or guardians where access is provided.
The platform is intended for school-operated educational use. If the legal operating entity is not the same as the school display name, replace this placeholder before publication: [Insert full legal entity name if different from school display name].
2. Eligibility and school-authorised access
- Access is limited to users authorised by the school or platform operator.
- Accounts may be created, limited, suspended, or removed by the school according to safeguarding, operational, or disciplinary requirements.
- Students may only use the platform for school-approved educational activities.
- Parents or guardians may only access information specifically made available to them by the school.
3. Account security
- Users must keep login credentials confidential and must not share accounts unless the school explicitly permits an access model.
- Users must notify the school promptly if they believe an account has been compromised or misused.
- The school may require password resets, multi-factor verification, or session termination to protect the platform.
4. Acceptable use
- Use the platform only for lawful, educational, administrative, or parent-engagement purposes authorised by the school.
- Do not misuse the service, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security controls, upload malicious content, or disrupt normal platform operation.
- Do not use the service to harass, impersonate, defame, or unlawfully disclose personal information about other users.
- Do not copy, scrape, or export content from the platform except where the school has expressly enabled that workflow.
5. Teacher and administrator responsibilities
- Teachers and administrators are responsible for reviewing assessment content, feedback, and operational actions taken through their accounts.
- Staff must use the platform in line with school policies covering safeguarding, confidentiality, records management, and acceptable use.
- Staff should ensure that access permissions, class assignments, and published content are appropriate and current.
- Where AI-assisted outputs are available, staff remain responsible for checking accuracy and suitability before relying on them in educational decisions.
6. Student and parent expectations
- Students must submit their own work unless collaboration is explicitly permitted by the school.
- Students must not use the platform to cheat, bypass assignment rules, or interfere with another user's work or results.
- Parents and guardians must use access credentials only for their own authorised portal or school-communication purposes.
- Questions about grades, discipline, or school decisions should be directed to the school through normal channels.
7. Assessments, coursework, and AI-assisted features
The platform may support OCR, automated marking assistance, feedback suggestions, and related AI-assisted workflows. These outputs are support tools only.
- AI outputs are suggestions and are not fully automated final decisions.
- Teachers and school staff remain responsible for final educational judgment, publishing, and grading decisions.
- The platform operator does not guarantee that automated or AI-assisted outputs will be error-free, complete, or suitable for every educational context.
8. User content and intellectual property
Users retain rights they already hold in their own original work, subject to the school's rights to process, store, review, mark, and share that content for legitimate educational and administrative purposes.
- Students grant the school and platform operator the rights needed to receive, store, process, and assess submitted work.
- School-created templates, policies, mark schemes, and internal materials remain subject to school or third-party intellectual property rights.
- Users must not upload content they are not permitted to use or share.
9. Privacy and data protection
Personal data is handled under the platform's privacy notices and applicable UK data-protection law, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This platform is currently configured for essential cookies only, such as session, login, and security cookies.
10. Availability, maintenance, and suspension
- The platform may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, updates, incident response, or operational reasons.
- The school may limit, suspend, or terminate access where necessary to protect users, maintain service integrity, or enforce these terms and school policies.
- The platform operator may take reasonable steps to investigate suspected misuse, protect data, and restore service following incidents.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The platform is provided for school and educational operations. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform is provided on an "as available" basis without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability or error-free operation.
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
- Subject to that, the school or platform operator is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from platform use, outages, user error, or reliance on unreviewed AI-assisted outputs.
- These terms should be reviewed and adapted so the liability wording matches the school's legal structure and insurance position.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are intended for a Northern Ireland / UK school deployment, but the final governing law, venue, and dispute wording must be confirmed before publication.
